Over 20 years ago, I purchased the subject matter for this painting from a church garage sale. The yucca plant was probably no taller than 6β inches at the time; to this day I still have this house plant. The plant has grown to over 5β feet tall and itβs still growing.
What inspired me most about this piece was the positive and negative shapes formed by the shadows and leaves. I used a palette knife to complete the entire painting in an impressionistic style.
I was born in Fort Worth, TX. At the early age of seven I realized I had a GOD given ability to draw. I have never received any formal training, I just have a natural ability to draw. After high school, I received an education in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Dallas were I earned an Associates Degree. I've worked in different segments of the graphics arts industry for many years. My experience ranges from graphic design to computer animation. But my true love is fine art.
